RIVIERA arrived at the cruise port terminal in Miami early in the morning. Passengers leaving the ship streamed off until mid-morning. Next, it was the turn of those of us who would be continuing on with the next segment of the cruise.
We walked off the ship, cleared immigration, exited the terminal building, re-entered the terminal building through another door, went through security, sat in a waiting room for 10-15 minutes, then re-boarded the ship. It struck me as the equivalent of an ICE Chinese fire drill.
A lot of steps (literally and figuratively) could have been eliminated by just having us clear immigration in the theater or main dining room. It was certainly not for lack of space.
We departed earlier than we did on the first segment of the trip, following Celebrity's SUMMIT out of the channel about an hour after her departure.
We are looking forward to a sea day tomorrow.
